Al-Naml 4 of 7
And We had certainly sent to Thamud their brother Salih, [saying], "Worship Allah," and at once they were two parties conflicting. (45) He said: O my people! why do you seek to hasten on the evil before the good? Why do you not ask forgiveness of Allah so that you may be dealt with mercifully? (46) They said, "We have an ill omen about you and your followers." Salih replied, God has made your ill fortune await you. You are a people on trial." (47) There were in that city nine persons who spread disorder in the land, and did not reform. (48) They said: "Swear one to another by Allah that we shall make a secret night attack on him and his household, and afterwards we will surely say to his near relatives: 'We witnessed not the destruction of his household, and verily! We are telling the truth.'" (49) So they plotted a plot, and We planned a plan, while they perceived not. (50) Behold, then, what all their scheming came to in the end: We utterly destroyed them and their people, all of them; (51) So those are their houses, desolate because of the wrong they had done. Indeed in that is a sign for people who know. (52) And We delivered those who believed and were godfearing. (53) And Lot! when he said unto his folk: Will ye commit abomination knowingly? (54) You lust after men in place of women. You are indeed a stolid people." (55) ۞ His people had no answer except saying: "Expel the family of Lot from your city. They are a people who would (rather) be pure!" (56) But We delivered him and his followers except his wife; We ordained her to be of those who remained behind. (57) And We rained a rain upon them. Dreadful is the rain of those who have been warned. (58)
