Hizb 39
Juz 20
And assuredly We sent unto the Thamud their brother Saleh saying: worship Allah. Then lo! they became two parties contending. (45) He said: O my people! wherefore seek ye to hasten the evil before the good? Wherefore ask ye not forgiveness of Allah, that haply ye may be shewn mercy. (46) They said, "We consider you a bad omen, you and those with you." He said, "Your omen is with Allah. Rather, you are a people being tested." (47) There were in the city nine men who spread corruption in the land, and would not reform. (48) [and] after having bound one another by an oath in God's name, they said: "Indeed, we shall suddenly fall upon him and his household by night [and slay them all]; and then we shall boldly say to his next of kin, 'We did not witness the destruction of his household - and behold, we are indeed men of truth!'" (49) Thus they devised a plan, and We also devised a plan, but they were not aware of it. (50) And behold the consequences of their devising! We destroyed them, and their nation altogether. (51) So those are their houses fallen down because they were unjust, most surely there is a sign in this for a people who know. (52) And We saved those who believed, and used to fear Allah, and keep their duty to Him. (53) (We also sent) Lut (as a messenger): behold, He said to his people, "Do ye do what is shameful though ye see (its iniquity)? (54) Do you have carnal relations with men rather than women? You are ignorant people". (55) ۞ Therefore the answer of his people was nothing except that they said, “Expel the family of Lut from your township; these people wish purity!” (56) Eventually We saved (Lot) and his family, except his wife. We had decreed that she should be among those who would remain behind. (57) And We rained down on them a rain (of stones). So evil was the rain of those who were warned. (58)
