Hizb 39
Juz 20
AND [likewise,] indeed, We sent unto [the tribe of] Thamud their brother Salih [with this message]: "Worship God alone!" and behold, they were [split into] two factions contending with one another. (45) He said: O my people! wherefore seek ye to hasten the evil before the good? Wherefore ask ye not forgiveness of Allah, that haply ye may be shewn mercy. (46) They said: "You betoken evil, and those with you." (Saleh) replied: "The evil you presage can only come from God. In reality you are a people under trial (for your own inauspiciousness)." (47) Now there were nine ring-leaders in the city who created corruption in the land and never worked to set things right. (48) [and] after having bound one another by an oath in God's name, they said: "Indeed, we shall suddenly fall upon him and his household by night [and slay them all]; and then we shall boldly say to his next of kin, 'We did not witness the destruction of his household - and behold, we are indeed men of truth!'" (49) And they planned a plan, and We planned a plan while they perceived not. (50) Then see the nature of the consequence of their plotting, for lo! We destroyed them and their people, every one. (51) So those are their houses fallen down because they were unjust, most surely there is a sign in this for a people who know. (52) and We saved those who believed in and feared God. (53) And tell of Lot. He said to his people, "Will you commit evil knowingly? (54) What! do you indeed approach men lustfully rather than women? Nay, you are a people who act ignorantly. (55) ۞ His people had no answer except saying: "Expel the family of Lot from your city. They are a people who would (rather) be pure!" (56) Eventually We saved (Lot) and his family, except his wife. We had decreed that she should be among those who would remain behind. (57) And We rained on them a rain; and evil indeed is the rain of them that are warned. (58)
