Hizb 39
Juz 20
And indeed We sent to the Thamud, their fellowman Saleh that, “Worship Allah”, thereupon they became two parties quarrelling. (45) He said: "O my people! why ask ye to hasten on the evil in preference to the good? If only ye ask Allah for forgiveness, ye may hope to receive mercy. (46) They said, "We have an ill omen about you and your followers." Salih replied, God has made your ill fortune await you. You are a people on trial." (47) Now there were nine ring-leaders in the city who created corruption in the land and never worked to set things right. (48) They said: "Let us swear by God that we will attack Saleh and his family at night, and later tell his heirs: 'We did not see his family destroyed, and we speak the truth.'" (49) They plotted and planned, but We too planned, even while they perceived it not. (50) See, then, how was the end of their plan that We destroyed them and their people, all (of them). (51) Those are their empty houses which We ruined because of their injustice. In this there is evidence (of the truth) for the people of knowledge. (52) And We saved those who believed and practised righteousness. (53) (Remember) Lot, when he said to his people: "Why do you indulge in obscenities when you know (it is evil)? (54) Do you approach men lustfully instead of women! No, you are an ignorant nation' (55) ۞ But the answer of his people was no other except that they said: Turn out Lut's followers from your town; surely they are a people who would keep pure! (56) We saved (Lot) and his family except his wife who was destined to remain behind. (57) and We pelted them with torrential rain. How dreadful that rain was for those who had been warned! (58)
