Hizb 39
Juz 20
AND [likewise,] indeed, We sent unto [the tribe of] Thamud their brother Salih [with this message]: "Worship God alone!" and behold, they were [split into] two factions contending with one another. (45) Salih said, "My people, why do you commit sins so quickly before doing good? Would that you ask forgiveness from God so that perhaps He will have mercy upon you." (46) They said: "Ill omen do we augur from thee and those that are with thee". He said: "Your ill omen is with Allah; yea, ye are a people under trial." (47) And there were nine persons in the city who used to cause turmoil in the land and did not wish reform. (48) They said, "Let us bind ourselves by an oath sworn in the name of God that we shall attack Salih and his family by night, and to his protector [who demands retribution], we shall say, "We were not present when they were slain. We are telling the truth." (49) And so they devised an evil scheme; but We devised a subtle scheme (of Our own), and they perceived it not. (50) See, then, how was the end of their plan that We destroyed them and their people, all (of them). (51) Those are their empty houses which We ruined because of their injustice. In this there is evidence (of the truth) for the people of knowledge. (52) And we saved those who believed and used to ward off (evil). (53) And Lut! what time he said unto his people: commit ye indecency while ye see? (54) Do you indeed approach men with desire instead of women? Rather, you are a people behaving ignorantly." (55) ۞ But his people gave no other answer but this: they said, "Drive out the followers of Lut from your city: these are indeed men who want to be clean and pure!" (56) So We saved him and his family except his wife who was destined to stay behind. (57) And We rained on them a rain; and evil indeed is the rain of them that are warned. (58)
