Hizb 39
Juz 20
And We verily sent unto Thamud their brother Salih, saying: Worship Allah. And lo! they (then became two parties quarrelling. (45) He said, 'O my people, why do you seek to hasten evil before good? Why do you not ask forgiveness of God? Haply so you will find mercy.' (46) They said: "Ill omen do we augur from thee and those that are with thee". He said: "Your ill omen is with Allah; yea, ye are a people under trial." (47) And there were in the city nine family heads causing corruption in the land and not amending [its affairs]. (48) Swearing by Allah they said to one another, “We will indeed attack him and his family at night, and then say to his heir, ‘We were not present at the time of slaying of this household, and indeed we are truthful.’” (49) And so they devised an evil scheme; but We devised a subtle scheme (of Our own), and they perceived it not. (50) We destroyed them and their people altogether. (51) Those are their houses, all are in ruins because of the evil they committed; surely in this there is a sign for nation who know. (52) And We saved those who believed, and used to fear Allah, and keep their duty to Him. (53) And (We sent) Lut, when he said to his people: What! do you commit indecency while you see? (54) Do you lustfully approach men instead of women? Nay, you engage in acts of sheer ignorance." (55) ۞ Therefore the answer of his people was nothing except that they said, “Expel the family of Lut from your township; these people wish purity!” (56) So We saved him and his family, except his wife. We destined her to be of those who remained behind. (57) And We rained on them a rain, and evil was the rain of those who had been warned. (58)
