Hizb 39
Juz 20
To Thamud We sent their brother Salih. He said, "Serve none but God." But they divided themselves into two factions contending with one another. (45) He urged them, "O my people, why do you wish to hasten on the evil rather than the good? Why do you not ask forgiveness of God, so that you may be shown mercy?" (46) They said: we augur ill of thee and of those who are with thee. He said: your augury is with Allah. Aye! ye are a people being tested. (47) There were in the city nine men who spread corruption in the land, and would not reform. (48) They said: "Swear a mutual oath by Allah that we shall make a secret night attack on him and his people, and that we shall then say to his heir (when he seeks vengeance): 'We were not present at the slaughter of his people, and we are positively telling the truth.'" (49) They plotted and planned, but We too planned, even while they perceived it not. (50) and behold, how was the end of their device! For We destroyed them and their people all together. (51) Those are their empty houses which We ruined because of their injustice. In this there is evidence (of the truth) for the people of knowledge. (52) And We saved those who believed, and used to fear Allah, and keep their duty to Him. (53) (Remember) Lot, when he said to his people: "Why do you indulge in obscenities when you know (it is evil)? (54) What! do you indeed approach men lustfully rather than women? Nay, you are a people who act ignorantly. (55) ۞ His people had no answer but to say, "Expel Lot and his family from the town for they want to be pure." (56) So We saved him and his family, except his wife. We destined her to be of those who remained behind. (57) And We rained down upon them a rain. It was an evil rain for those who had already been warned. (58)
