Hizb 39
Juz 20
And We verily sent unto Thamud their brother Salih, saying: Worship Allah. And lo! they (then became two parties quarrelling. (45) He said: "O my people! Why do you seek to hasten the evil (torment) before the good (Allah's Mercy)? Why seek you not the Forgiveness of Allah, that you may receive mercy?" (46) They said: "We augur ill of you and those who are with you." Salih replied: "Your augury is with Allah. The truth is that you are a people who are being tried." (47) There were in the city nine men of a family, who made mischief in the land, and would not reform. (48) They said: swear by God one to another that we shall surely fall upon him and his household by night and thereafter we shall surely say unto his heir; we witnessed not the destruction of his household, and verily we are truthtellers. (49) They plotted and planned, but We too planned, even while they perceived it not. (50) Then see how was the end of their plot! Verily! We destroyed them and their nation, all together. (51) and [now] those dwellings of theirs are empty, [ruined] as an outcome of their evil deeds. In this, behold, there is a message indeed for people of [innate] knowledge (52) And We saved those who believed and practised righteousness. (53) And Lot, he said to his nation: 'Do you commit indecencies with your eyes open! (54) What, do you approach men lustfully instead of women? No, you are a people that are ignorant.' (55) ۞ And the only answer of his people was that they said, 'Expel the folk of Lot from your city; they are men that keep themselves clean!' (56) But We saved him and his family, except his wife; her We destined to be of those who lagged behind. (57) And We rained down on them a shower (of stones). How ruinous was the rain that fell on those who had been warned (but warned in vain)! (58)
