Hizb 39
Juz 20
We sent to the tribe of Thamud their brother Salih so that they would worship God, but they became two quarrelling groups. (45) (Saleh) said: "O people, why do you wish to hasten evil rather than good? Why not ask for God's forgiveness? You may well be forgiven." (46) They said, "We consider you a bad omen, you and those with you." He said, "Your omen is with Allah. Rather, you are a people being tested." (47) Now in the city there were nine persons who did corruption in the land, and put not things right; (48) they said, 'Swear you, one to another, by God, "We will attack him and his family by night, then we will tell his protector, We were not witnesses of the destruction of his family; and assuredly we are truthful men."' (49) They plotted and We planned without their knowledge. Consider the result of their plot. (50) Now see the end of their machinations: We destroyed them and their entire people. (51) So those are their houses, desolate because of the wrong they had done. Indeed in that is a sign for people who know. (52) And We rescued those who accepted faith and used to fear. (53) (Remember) Lot, when he said to his people: "Why do you indulge in obscenities when you know (it is evil)? (54) Would ye go in lustfully unto men instead of women? Aye! ye are a people addicted to ignorant ways. (55) ۞ The only answer of his people was, "Drive out Lot and his family from the city. They are a people who make themselves out to be pure." (56) Eventually We saved (Lot) and his family, except his wife. We had decreed that she should be among those who would remain behind. (57) the while We rained a rain [of destruction] upon the others: and dire is such rain upon all who let themselves be warned [to no avail] (58)
