Hizb 39
Juz 20
And indeed We sent to the Thamud, their fellowman Saleh that, “Worship Allah”, thereupon they became two parties quarrelling. (45) (Saleh) said: "O people, why do you wish to hasten evil rather than good? Why not ask for God's forgiveness? You may well be forgiven." (46) They said, “We consider you an evil omen, and your companions”; he said, “Your evil omen is with Allah in fact you people have fallen into trial.” (47) And there were in the city nine persons who made mischief in the land and reformed not. (48) They said, "Let us bind ourselves by an oath sworn in the name of God that we shall attack Salih and his family by night, and to his protector [who demands retribution], we shall say, "We were not present when they were slain. We are telling the truth." (49) They hatched up the plot; We also planned without their knowledge. (50) And behold the consequences of their devising! We destroyed them, and their nation altogether. (51) and [now] those dwellings of theirs are empty, [ruined] as an outcome of their evil deeds. In this, behold, there is a message indeed for people of [innate] knowledge (52) seeing that We saved those who had attained to faith and were conscious of Us, (53) And (remember) Lut when he said to his people, “What! You stoop to the shameful whereas you can see?” (54) What! do you indeed approach men lustfully rather than women? Nay, you are a people who act ignorantly. (55) ۞ Yet the only answer of his nation was that they said: 'Expel the family of Lot from your village, they are people who purified themselves' (56) So We saved him and his family, except his wife. We destined her to be of those who remained behind. (57) And We rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): and evil was the shower on those who were admonished (but heeded not)! (58)
