Hizb 39
Juz 20
We sent to the tribe of Thamud their brother Salih so that they would worship God, but they became two quarrelling groups. (45) Salih said: "My people, why do you wish to hasten that evil rather than good should come upon you? Why should you not seek pardon from Allah so that mercy be shown to you?" (46) They said, "We see you and your followers as an evil omen." He replied, "No, your evil omen is with God; the truth is that you are a people being put to the test." (47) And there were in the city nine persons who made mischief in the land and reformed not. (48) [and] after having bound one another by an oath in God's name, they said: "Indeed, we shall suddenly fall upon him and his household by night [and slay them all]; and then we shall boldly say to his next of kin, 'We did not witness the destruction of his household - and behold, we are indeed men of truth!'" (49) And they devised a scheme and, without their knowledge, We devised a scheme. (50) So behold thou how was the end of their plotting: verily We annihilated them and their nation all together. (51) So these are their houses fallen flat, the recompense of their injustice; indeed in this is a sign for people who know. (52) And we saved those who believed and used to ward off (evil). (53) And (remember) Lout (Lot)! When he said to his people. Do you commit Al-Fahishah (evil, great sin, every kind of unlawful sexual intercourse, sodomy, etc.) while you see (one another doing evil without any screen, etc.)?" (54) What! do you indeed approach men lustfully rather than women? Nay, you are a people who act ignorantly. (55) ۞ But the answer of his people was not except that they said, "Expel the family of Lot from your city. Indeed, they are people who keep themselves pure." (56) We saved (Lot) and his family except his wife who was destined to remain behind. (57) And We showered a rain upon them; so what a wretched rain for those who were warned! (58)
