Hizb 39
Juz 20
We sent to the tribe of Thamud their brother Salih so that they would worship God, but they became two quarrelling groups. (45) Said [Salih to the erring ones]: Why do you seek to hasten the coming upon you of evil instead of hoping for the good?" Why do you not, rather, ask God to forgive you your sins, so that you might be graced with His mercy?" (46) They said, "We consider you a bad omen, you and those with you." He said, "Your omen is with Allah. Rather, you are a people being tested." (47) There were in the city nine men who spread corruption in the land, and would not reform. (48) They said, "Take a mutual oath by Allah that we will kill him by night, he and his family. Then we will say to his executor, 'We did not witness the destruction of his family, and indeed, we are truthful.' " (49) So they devised a scheme, and We made our secret plan, and they remained neglectful. (50) See, then, what the consequences of their plan were. We destroyed them and their people utterly, all together. (51) Now behold their houses that lie in utter ruins because of their wrong-doing. Verily there is a Sign in this for the people who know. (52) And We delivered those who believed and were godfearing. (53) And Lot, he said to his nation: 'Do you commit indecencies with your eyes open! (54) “What! You lustfully go towards men, leaving the women?! In fact, you are an ignorant people.” (55) ۞ His people had no answer except saying: "Expel the family of Lot from your city. They are a people who would (rather) be pure!" (56) We therefore rescued him and his family, except his wife; We had decreed that she is of those who will remain behind. (57) And We rained a rain upon them. Dreadful is the rain of those who have been warned. (58)
