Hizb 39
Juz 20
We sent (aforetime), to the Thamud, their brother Salih, saying, "Serve Allah": But behold, they became two factions quarrelling with each other. (45) (Saleh) said: "O people, why do you wish to hasten evil rather than good? Why not ask for God's forgiveness? You may well be forgiven." (46) They said: 'We predict an evil omen from you and those who are with you' He replied: 'Your prediction is with Allah, you are a nation being tested' (47) There were in the city nine men of a family, who made mischief in the land, and would not reform. (48) They said: "Swear to one another in the name of Allah that we shall make a sudden night swoop on Salih and his family and will then tell their heirs that we did not witness the destruction of his family. We are indeed truthful." (49) And they plotted a plot, and We plotted a plot, while they perceived it not. (50) Behold, then, what all their scheming came to in the end: We utterly destroyed them and their people, all of them; (51) So these are their houses fallen flat, the recompense of their injustice; indeed in this is a sign for people who know. (52) And We saved those who believed, and used to fear Allah, and keep their duty to Him. (53) Lot asked his people, "Do you understandably commit indecency? (54) You lust after men in place of women. You are indeed a stolid people." (55) ۞ Then there was no answer of his people save that they said: drive forth the family of Lut from your City, verily they are a people who would be pure! (56) So We delivered him and his family, except his wife: We ordained her to be one of those who stayed behind, (57) And We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were warned.
