Hizb 39
Juz 20
And We had certainly sent to Thamud their brother Salih, [saying], "Worship Allah," and at once they were two parties conflicting. (45) He said, 'O my people, why do you seek to hasten evil before good? Why do you not ask forgiveness of God? Haply so you will find mercy.' (46) They said: We have met with ill luck on account of you and on account of those with you. He said: The cause of your evil fortune is with Allah; nay, you are a people who are tried. (47) And there were in the city nine persons who made mischief in the land and did not act aright. (48) They said, "Let us swear by God to do away with him and his family during the night then tell his guardian that we did not see how he and his family had been destroyed, and we shall be telling the truth." (49) And they plotted a plot, and We plotted a plot, while they perceived it not. (50) See, then, how was the end of their plan that We destroyed them and their people, all (of them). (51) Now behold their houses that lie in utter ruins because of their wrong-doing. Verily there is a Sign in this for the people who know. (52) And We saved those who believed and were cautious. (53) And Lut! what time he said unto his people: commit ye indecency while ye see? (54) "Do you approach men in your lusts rather than women? Nay, but you are a people who behave senselessly." (55) ۞ Then there was no answer of his people save that they said: drive forth the family of Lut from your City, verily they are a people who would be pure! (56) So We delivered him and his family, except his wife: We ordained her to be one of those who stayed behind, (57) the while We rained a rain [of destruction] upon the others: and dire is such rain upon all who let themselves be warned [to no avail] (58)
