Hizb 39
Juz 20
And We had certainly sent to Thamud their brother Salih, [saying], "Worship Allah," and at once they were two parties conflicting. (45) He urged them, "O my people, why do you wish to hasten on the evil rather than the good? Why do you not ask forgiveness of God, so that you may be shown mercy?" (46) They answered: "We augur evil from thee and those that follow thee!" Said he: "Your destiny, good or evil, rests with God; yea, you are people undergoing a test!" (47) Now there were nine ring-leaders in the city who created corruption in the land and never worked to set things right. (48) [and] after having bound one another by an oath in God's name, they said: "Indeed, we shall suddenly fall upon him and his household by night [and slay them all]; and then we shall boldly say to his next of kin, 'We did not witness the destruction of his household - and behold, we are indeed men of truth!'" (49) And they devised a device, and We likewise devised a device, while they were not aware; (50) We destroyed them and their people altogether. (51) So these their habitations lie deserted now because of their iniquities. Verily there is a sign in this for those who understand. (52) And We saved those who believed, and used to fear Allah, and keep their duty to Him. (53) And (We sent) Lut, when he said to his people: What! do you commit indecency while you see? (54) Do you lustfully approach men instead of women? Nay, you engage in acts of sheer ignorance." (55) ۞ But this had only one answer from his people. They said: "Expel Lot's folk from your city. They pretend to be absolutely clean." (56) Thereupon We saved him and his household - all but his wife, whom We willed to be among those that stayed behind (57) And we rained on them a rain (of stones); indeed it is an evil rain that rains on those that are warned. (58)
