Hizb 39
Juz 20
To Thamud We sent their brother Salih. He said, "Serve none but God." But they divided themselves into two factions contending with one another. (45) 'My nation' he said, 'why do you wish to hasten evil rather than good? Why do you not ask the forgiveness of Allah, in order that you find mercy' (46) They said, "We see you and your followers as an evil omen." He replied, "No, your evil omen is with God; the truth is that you are a people being put to the test." (47) There were in the city nine men who spread corruption in the land, and would not reform. (48) Swearing by Allah they said to one another, “We will indeed attack him and his family at night, and then say to his heir, ‘We were not present at the time of slaying of this household, and indeed we are truthful.’” (49) And they planned a plan, and We planned a plan, while they perceived not. (50) Then see what was the end of their plot!- this, that We destroyed them and their people, all (of them). (51) So yonder are their houses overturned, for they did wrong. Verily, herein is a sign unto a people who know. (52) We deliver those who believe and take heed for themselves. (53) AND [thus, too, did We save] Lot, when he said unto his people: "Would you commit this abomination with your eyes open (to its being against all nature)? (54) Do you have carnal relations with men rather than women? You are ignorant people". (55) ۞ But this had only one answer from his people. They said: "Expel Lot's folk from your city. They pretend to be absolutely clean." (56) Then We delivered him and his household save his wife: We destined her to be of the lingerers. (57) and We pelted them with torrential rain. How dreadful that rain was for those who had been warned! (58)
