Hizb 39
Juz 20
AND [likewise,] indeed, We sent unto [the tribe of] Thamud their brother Salih [with this message]: "Worship God alone!" and behold, they were [split into] two factions contending with one another. (45) He urged them, "O my people, why do you wish to hasten on the evil rather than the good? Why do you not ask forgiveness of God, so that you may be shown mercy?" (46) They said, “We consider you an evil omen, and your companions”; he said, “Your evil omen is with Allah in fact you people have fallen into trial.” (47) Now there were in the city nine men who were wont to commit deeds of depravity all over the land, and would not reform; (48) They said: "Let us swear by God that we will attack Saleh and his family at night, and later tell his heirs: 'We did not see his family destroyed, and we speak the truth.'" (49) They plotted and We planned without their knowledge. Consider the result of their plot. (50) And behold the consequences of their devising! We destroyed them, and their nation altogether. (51) See, yonder are their dwellings empty and in ruins because they did wrong. Lo! herein is indeed a portent for a people who have knowledge. (52) And We saved those who believed, and used to fear Allah, and keep their duty to Him. (53) And (remember) Lut when he said to his people, “What! You stoop to the shameful whereas you can see?” (54) Must you go lustfully to men instead of women? Indeed, you are a people who are deeply ignorant." (55) ۞ Then there was no answer of his people save that they said: drive forth the family of Lut from your City, verily they are a people who would be pure! (56) So We saved him and his family, except his wife. We destined her to be of those who remained behind. (57) And We rained down on them a rain (of stones). So evil was the rain of those who were warned. (58)
