Hizb 39
Juz 20
And We sent to Thamud their brother Salih (with the Message): "Serve Allah," but all of a sudden they became split into two quarrelling factions. (45) He said: O my people! why do you seek to hasten on the evil before the good? Why do you not ask forgiveness of Allah so that you may be dealt with mercifully? (46) They said: We augur evil of thee and those with thee. He said: Your evil augury is with Allah. Nay, but ye are folk that are being tested. (47) Now there were in the city nine men who were wont to commit deeds of depravity all over the land, and would not reform; (48) They said: "Swear one to another by Allah that we shall make a secret night attack on him and his household, and afterwards we will surely say to his near relatives: 'We witnessed not the destruction of his household, and verily! We are telling the truth.'" (49) So they plotted a plot, and We planned a plan, while they perceived not. (50) See, then, what the consequences of their plan were. We destroyed them and their people utterly, all together. (51) Those are their houses, all are in ruins because of the evil they committed; surely in this there is a sign for nation who know. (52) And We rescued those who accepted faith and used to fear. (53) (We also sent) Lut (as a messenger): behold, He said to his people, "Do ye do what is shameful though ye see (its iniquity)? (54) Would ye go in lustfully unto men instead of women? Aye! ye are a people addicted to ignorant ways. (55) ۞ But the answer of his folk was naught save that they said: Expel the household of Lot from your township, for they (forsooth) are folk who would keep clean! (56) We therefore rescued him and his family, except his wife; We had decreed that she is of those who will remain behind. (57) And We rained down on them a shower (of stones). How ruinous was the rain that fell on those who had been warned (but warned in vain)! (58)
