Hizb 39
Juz 20
We sent to the tribe of Thamud their brother Salih so that they would worship God, but they became two quarrelling groups. (45) He said, 'O my people, why do you seek to hasten evil before good? Why do you not ask forgiveness of God? Haply so you will find mercy.' (46) They said: 'We predict an evil omen from you and those who are with you' He replied: 'Your prediction is with Allah, you are a nation being tested' (47) And there were in the city nine men (from the sons of their chiefs), who made mischief in the land, and would not reform. (48) They said, "Let us bind ourselves by an oath sworn in the name of God that we shall attack Salih and his family by night, and to his protector [who demands retribution], we shall say, "We were not present when they were slain. We are telling the truth." (49) Thus they planned and We too planned, the while they did not know. (50) Then see what was the end of their plot!- this, that We destroyed them and their people, all (of them). (51) Now such were their houses, - in utter ruin, - because they practised wrong-doing. Verily in this is a Sign for people of knowledge. (52) And We saved those who believed and used to fear Allah. (53) Lot asked his people, "Do you understandably commit indecency? (54) Do you approach men lustfully instead of women! No, you are an ignorant nation' (55) ۞ But the answer of his people was not except that they said, "Expel the family of Lot from your city. Indeed, they are people who keep themselves pure." (56) Eventually We saved (Lot) and his family, except his wife. We had decreed that she should be among those who would remain behind. (57) And We rained on them a rain; and evil indeed is the rain of them that are warned. (58)
