Hizb 39
Juz 20
We sent to the tribe of Thamud their brother Salih so that they would worship God, but they became two quarrelling groups. (45) He said: O my people! wherefore seek ye to hasten the evil before the good? Wherefore ask ye not forgiveness of Allah, that haply ye may be shewn mercy. (46) They said: "We augur ill of you and those who are with you." Salih replied: "Your augury is with Allah. The truth is that you are a people who are being tried." (47) And there were in the city nine men (from the sons of their chiefs), who made mischief in the land, and would not reform. (48) [and] after having bound one another by an oath in God's name, they said: "Indeed, we shall suddenly fall upon him and his household by night [and slay them all]; and then we shall boldly say to his next of kin, 'We did not witness the destruction of his household - and behold, we are indeed men of truth!'" (49) They plotted and planned, but We too planned, even while they perceived it not. (50) And behold the consequences of their devising! We destroyed them, and their nation altogether. (51) and [now] those dwellings of theirs are empty, [ruined] as an outcome of their evil deeds. In this, behold, there is a message indeed for people of [innate] knowledge (52) And We rescued those who accepted faith and used to fear. (53) (We also sent) Lut (as a messenger): behold, He said to his people, "Do ye do what is shameful though ye see (its iniquity)? (54) What! do you indeed approach men lustfully rather than women? Nay, you are a people who act ignorantly. (55) ۞ Then there was no answer of his people save that they said: drive forth the family of Lut from your City, verily they are a people who would be pure! (56) So We saved him and his family, except his wife, whom We decreed should stay behind. (57) And We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were warned. (58)
