Hizb 39
Juz 20
And We sent to Thamood their brother Salih: 'Serve you God!' And behold, they were two parties, that were disputing one with another. (45) Salih said: "My people, why do you wish to hasten that evil rather than good should come upon you? Why should you not seek pardon from Allah so that mercy be shown to you?" (46) They said: we augur ill of thee and of those who are with thee. He said: your augury is with Allah. Aye! ye are a people being tested. (47) And there were nine persons in the city who used to cause turmoil in the land and did not wish reform. (48) They said: "Swear to one another in the name of Allah that we shall make a sudden night swoop on Salih and his family and will then tell their heirs that we did not witness the destruction of his family. We are indeed truthful." (49) And so they devised an evil scheme; but We devised a subtle scheme (of Our own), and they perceived it not. (50) We destroyed them and their people altogether. (51) and [now] those dwellings of theirs are empty, [ruined] as an outcome of their evil deeds. In this, behold, there is a message indeed for people of [innate] knowledge (52) And We delivered those who believed and were wont to avoid disobeying (Allah). (53) And Lot, when he said to his people, 'What, do you commit indecency with your eyes open? (54) “What! You lustfully go towards men, leaving the women?! In fact, you are an ignorant people.” (55) ۞ But the answer of his people was no other except that they said: Turn out Lut's followers from your town; surely they are a people who would keep pure! (56) So We delivered him and his family, except his wife: We ordained her to be one of those who stayed behind, (57) And We rained a rain upon them. Dreadful is the rain of those who have been warned. (58)
