Hizb 39
Juz 20
AND [likewise,] indeed, We sent unto [the tribe of] Thamud their brother Salih [with this message]: "Worship God alone!" and behold, they were [split into] two factions contending with one another. (45) 'My nation' he said, 'why do you wish to hasten evil rather than good? Why do you not ask the forgiveness of Allah, in order that you find mercy' (46) They said: "Ill omen do we augur from thee and those that are with thee". He said: "Your ill omen is with Allah; yea, ye are a people under trial." (47) There were nine tribes in the city spreading evil without any reform in the land. (48) They said: Swear to each other by Allah that we will certainly make a sudden attack on him and his family by night, then we will say to his heir: We did not witness the destruction of his family, and we are most surely truthful. (49) So they devised a scheme, and We made our secret plan, and they remained neglectful. (50) Therefore see what was the result of their scheming We destroyed them and their entire nation. (51) Now behold their houses that lie in utter ruins because of their wrong-doing. Verily there is a Sign in this for the people who know. (52) And We delivered those who believed and were wont to fear. (53) And Lot! when he said unto his folk: Will ye commit abomination knowingly? (54) Do you lustfully approach men instead of women? Nay, you engage in acts of sheer ignorance." (55) ۞ But the answer of his folk was naught save that they said: Expel the household of Lot from your township, for they (forsooth) are folk who would keep clean! (56) But We delivered him and his followers except his wife; We ordained her to be of those who remained behind. (57) And We rained down on them a rain (of stones). So evil was the rain of those who were warned. (58)
