She said: O chiefs! give me advice respecting my affair: I never decide an affair until you are in my presence. (32) They answered: "We are endowed with power and with mighty prowess in war - but the command is thine; consider, then, what thou wouldst command." (33) She said, “Indeed the kings, when they enter a township, destroy it and disgrace its honourable people; and this is what they do.” (34) But lo! I am going to send a present unto them, and to see with what (answer) the messengers return. (35) But when he came to Solomon he said, 'What, would you succour me with wealth, and what God gave me is better than what He has given you? Nay, but instead you rejoice in your gift! (36) Return thou to them; we shall assuredly come against them with hosts they have not power to resist, and we shall expel them from there, abased and utterly humbled.' (37) Solomon said: "My nobles, which of you can bring me her throne before they come to me in submission?" (38) An Ifrit (strong) from the jinns said: "I will bring it to you before you rise from your place (council). And verily, I am indeed strong, and trustworthy for such work." (39) Said one who had knowledge of the Book, “I will bring it in your majesty’s presence before you bat your eyelid”; then when he saw it set in his presence*, Sulaiman said, “This is of the favours of my Lord; so that He may test me whether I give thanks or am ungrateful; and whoever gives thanks only gives thanks for his own good; and whoever is ungrateful then indeed my Lord is the Independent (Not Needing Anything), the Owner Of All Praise.” (A miracle which occurred through one of Allah’s friends.) (40) He said, 'Disguise her throne for her, and we shall behold whether she is guided or if she is of those that are not guided.' (41) When the Queen arrived, she was asked: "Is your throne like this one?" She said: "It seems as if it is the same. We had already come to know this and we had submitted ourselves." (42) That which she worshipped, other than Allah, had prevented her, for she came from an unbelieving nation. (43) She was told, "Enter the palace." But when she saw it, she thought it was a body of water and uncovered her shins [to wade through]. He said, "Indeed, it is a palace [whose floor is] made smooth with glass." She said, "My Lord, indeed I have wronged myself, and I submit with Solomon to Allah, Lord of the worlds." (44)
