She said, "O eminent ones, advise me in my affair. I would not decide a matter until you witness [for] me." (32) They replied: 'We are possessors of force and great might. It is for you to command, so consider what you will' (33) She said, “Indeed the kings, when they enter a township, destroy it and disgrace its honourable people; and this is what they do.” (34) So verily I am going to send a present unto them, and see with what answer the envoys come back. (35) So when he came to Sulaiman, he said: What! will you help me with wealth? But what Allah has given me is better than what He has given you. Nay, you are exultant because of your present; (36) [Then Sulaiman (Solomon) said to the chief of her messengers who brought the present]: "Go back to them. We verily shall come to them with hosts that they cannot resist, and we shall drive them out from there in disgrace, and they will be abased." (37) Solomon said: "My nobles, which of you can bring me her throne before they come to me in submission?" (38) An Ifrit (strong) from the jinns said: "I will bring it to you before you rise from your place (council). And verily, I am indeed strong, and trustworthy for such work." (39) Said one who had knowledge of the Book, “I will bring it in your majesty’s presence before you bat your eyelid”; then when he saw it set in his presence*, Sulaiman said, “This is of the favours of my Lord; so that He may test me whether I give thanks or am ungrateful; and whoever gives thanks only gives thanks for his own good; and whoever is ungrateful then indeed my Lord is the Independent (Not Needing Anything), the Owner Of All Praise.” (A miracle which occurred through one of Allah’s friends.) (40) He said, 'Disguise her throne for her, and we shall behold whether she is guided or if she is of those that are not guided.' (41) So when she came, it was said: Is your throne like this? She said: It is as it were the same, and we were given the knowledge before it, and we were submissive. (42) but that she served, apart from God, barred her, for she was of a people of unbelievers.' (43) She was asked to enter the lofty Palace: but when she saw it, she thought it was a lake of water, and she (tucked up her skirts), uncovering her legs. He said: "This is but a palace paved smooth with slabs of glass." She said: "O my Lord! I have indeed wronged my soul: I do (now) submit (in Islam), with Solomon, to the Lord of the Worlds." (44)
