We gave knowledge to David and Soloman. They said, "It is only God who deserves all praise. He has exalted us above many of His believing servants." (15) And Sulaiman was Dawood's heir, and he said: O men! we have been taught the language of birds, and we have been given all things; most surely this is manifest grace. (16) And there were gathered together unto Solomon his armies of the jinn and humankind, and of the birds, and they were set in battle order; (17) When they arrived in the valley of the ants, one ant said to the others, "Enter your dwellings lest you be carelessly crushed by Soloman and his army." (18) Thereupon [Solomon] smiled joyously at her words, and said: "O my Sustainer! Inspire me so that I may forever be grateful for those blessings of Thine with which Thou hast graced me and my parents, and that I may do what is right [in a manner] that will please Thee; and include me, by Thy grace, among Thy righteous servants!" (19) (On another occasion) Solomon inspected the birds and said: "Why is it that I do not see the hoopoe? Is he among the absentees? (20) [If so,] I will punish him most severely or will kill him unless he bring me a convincing excuse!" (21) But he was not long in coming, and reported: "I have been around where you have not been. I come from Saba with positive news. (22) "I found a woman ruling over them, and she has been given all things that could be possessed by any ruler of the earth, and she has a great throne. (23) I found her and her people prostrating to the sun instead of Allah, and Satan has made their deeds pleasing to them and averted them from [His] way, so they are not guided, (24) That they do not make obeisance to Allah, Who brings forth what is hidden in the heavens and the earth and knows what you hide and what you make manifest: (25) God: there is no god but He, the Lord of the Mighty Throne.' ۩ (26) ۞ Sulaiman said: we shall see now whether thou hast spoken the truth or whether thou art of the liars. (27) Go with this my letter and throw it down unto them; then turn away and see what (answer) they return, (28) The Queen said:" Know my nobles that a gracious letter has been delivered to me. (29) It is from Solomon, and it is: "In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate." (30) "Be you not exalted against me, but come to me as Muslims (true believers who submit to Allah with full submission)' " (31)
