The Ant (Al-Naml)
93 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Poets (Alshu'araa') before Stories (Al-Qasas)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Ta Sin. Those are the signs of the Koran and a Manifest Book, (1) A guidance and glad tidings unto the believers. (2) Who fulfil their devotional obligations, pay the zakat, and believe with certainty in the life to come. (3) Those who do not believe in the Hereafter We have made their deeds seem good to them, so they are astray. (4) Those are the ones for whom there will be the worst of punishment, and in the Hereafter they are the greatest losers. (5) And verily thou art receiving the Qur'an from before the Wise, the Knowing. (6) Tell of Moses who said to his family, "I have seen a fire. I will bring you news from there, or a burning brand for you to warm yourselves." (7) So when he reached it, it was proclaimed, “Blessed is he who is in the location of the fire (Moosa) and those who are close to it (the angels); and Purity is to Allah, the Lord Of The Creation.” (8) O Moses! Lo! it is I, Allah, the Mighty, the Wise. (9) [And then He said:] "Now throw down thy staff!" But when he saw it move rapidly, as if it were a serpent, he drew back [in terror,] and did not [dare to] return. [And God spoke to him again:] O Moses! Fear not - for, behold, no fear need the message-bearers have in My Presence, (10) except he who has committed some wrong. But if he substitutes good in place of evil, I am Most Forgiving, Most Compassionate. (11) "Now place thy hand into thy bosom: it will come forth [shining] white, without blemish!" [And thou shalt go] with nine [of My] messages unto Pharaoh and his people for, verily, they are people depraved!" (12) But when Our Clear Signs came to them, they said: "This is plain magic." (13) And they denied them out of malice and pride, though in their hearts they believed that they were true. So see how was the end of evil-doers! (14)
