The Ant (Al-Naml)
93 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Poets (Alshu'araa') before Stories (Al-Qasas)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Ta Sin. These are verses from the Quran, a book that makes things clear; (1) A guidance and glad tidings unto the believers. (2) who are constant in prayer and spend in charity: for it is they, they who in their innermost are certain of the life to come! (3) As for those who will not believe in the life to come - behold, goodly have We made their own doings appear unto them, and so they stumble blindly to and fro (4) Those are they for whom is the worst of punishment, and in the Hereafter they will be the greatest losers. (5) As to thee, the Qur'an is bestowed upon thee from the presence of one who is wise and all-knowing. (6) (Remember) when Moses said unto his household: Lo! I spy afar off a fire; I will bring you tidings thence, or bring to you a borrowed flame that ye may warm yourselves. (7) When he approached the fire, he was told, "Blessed is the one in the fire and those around it. All glory belongs to God, the Lord of the Universe. (8) Moses, it is I, Allah, the Almighty, the Wise. (9) [And then He said:] "Now throw down thy staff!" But when he saw it move rapidly, as if it were a serpent, he drew back [in terror,] and did not [dare to] return. [And God spoke to him again:] O Moses! Fear not - for, behold, no fear need the message-bearers have in My Presence, (10) except he who has done evil, then, after evil, has changed into good. I am the Forgiving, Most Merciful. (11) Put your hand into your pocket. It will come out sheer white but unharmed. This is one of the nine miracles which shall be showing to the Pharaoh and his people; they are truly wicked men." (12) But when there came to them Our visible signs, they said, "This is obvious magic." (13) And they persisted in rejecting them wrongfully and arrogantly, while in their hearts they were convinced of their truth. Observe, then, how evil was the fate of the evil-doers. (14)
