The Ant (Al-Naml)
93 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Poets (Alshu'araa') before Stories (Al-Qasas)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Ta-Sin. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. These are the Verses of the Quran, and (it is) a Book (that makes things) clear; (1) a guidance, and good tidings unto the believers (2) who establish Prayer and give Zakah, and have firm faith in the Hereafter. (3) As for those who do not believe in the Hereafter, We have made their deeds seem attractive to them so they stumble around in perplexity. (4) Those are they for whom is the worst of punishment, and in the Hereafter they will be the greatest losers. (5) And indeed you (O dear Prophet Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him), are taught the Qur’an from the Wise, the All Knowing. (6) Lo! [While lost in the desert,] Moses said to his family: "Behold, I perceive a fire [far away]; I may bring you from there some tiding [as to which way we are to pursue,] or bring you [at least] a burning brand so that you might warm yourselves." (7) But when Moses came to the fire, a call was sounded: "Blessed is He Who is in the fire and whatever is around it. Glory be to Allah, the Sustainer of all in the Universe. (8) [And God spoke thus:] "O Moses! Verily I alone am God, the Almighty, the Wise!" (9) [And then He said:] "Now throw down thy staff!" But when he saw it move rapidly, as if it were a serpent, he drew back [in terror,] and did not [dare to] return. [And God spoke to him again:] O Moses! Fear not - for, behold, no fear need the message-bearers have in My Presence, (10) "But if any have done wrong and have thereafter substituted good to take the place of evil, truly, I am Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (11) Put your hand into your pocket. It will come out sheer white but unharmed. This is one of the nine miracles which shall be showing to the Pharaoh and his people; they are truly wicked men." (12) But when Our signs came to them visibly, they said: 'This is plain sorcery.' (13) And they persisted in rejecting them wrongfully and arrogantly, while in their hearts they were convinced of their truth. Observe, then, how evil was the fate of the evil-doers. (14)
