The Ant (Al-Naml)
93 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Poets (Alshu'araa') before Stories (Al-Qasas)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Ta. Sin. These are revelations of the Qur'an and a Scripture that maketh plain; (1) it is guidance and good news for the believers (2) Who fulfil their devotional obligations, pay the zakat, and believe with certainty in the life to come. (3) Lo! as for those who believe not in the Hereafter, We have made their works fairseeming unto them so that they are all astray. (4) It is they whom the worst of suffering awaits: for it is they, they who in the life to come shall be the greatest losers! (5) (Muhammad), you have certainly received the Quran from the All-wise and All-knowing One. (6) Lo! [While lost in the desert,] Moses said to his family: "Behold, I perceive a fire [far away]; I may bring you from there some tiding [as to which way we are to pursue,] or bring you [at least] a burning brand so that you might warm yourselves." (7) When he approached the fire, he was told, "Blessed is the one in the fire and those around it. All glory belongs to God, the Lord of the Universe. (8) O Moses, I am God, the Powerful, the Wise. (9) And throw down thy staff! But when he saw it writhing as it were a demon, he turned to flee headlong; (but it was said unto him): O Moses! Fear not! the emissaries fear not in My presence, (10) "But if any have done wrong and have thereafter substituted good to take the place of evil, truly, I am Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (11) Thrust thy hand in thy bosom and it will come forth white without evil-among nine signs to Pharaoh and his people; they are an ungodly people.' (12) But when Our signs came to them in all their clarity they said, "This is clearly sorcery!" (13) And they rejected them, while their [inner] selves were convinced thereof, out of injustice and haughtiness. So see how was the end of the corrupters. (14)
