The Ant (Al-Naml)
93 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Poets (Alshu'araa') before Stories (Al-Qasas)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Ta-Sin. These are the verses of the Qur'an and a Book luminous. (1) A guidance and good tidings for believers (2) Those who keep the prayer established and pay the charity and are certain of the Hereafter. (3) As to those who believe not in the Hereafter, We have made their deeds pleasing in their eyes; and so they wander about in distraction. (4) It is they for whom a grievous chastisement lies in store; it is they who shall be the greatest losers in the Hereafter. (5) You have been conveyed the Qur'an from One all-wise and all-knowing. (6) Behold! Moses said to his family: "I perceive a fire; soon will I bring you from there some information, or I will bring you a burning brand to light our fuel, that ye may warm yourselves. (7) And when he came near it he was called: 'Blessed be who is (Moses) in the fire and (the angels) who are around it! Exaltations to Allah, Lord of the Worlds! (8) O Musa! surely I am Allah, the Mighty, the Wise; (9) Throw down your staff." When he saw it wriggling like a serpent he turned his back and fled without turning (to look). "O Moses," (said the voice), "be not fearful. Surely those sent as messengers do not fear in My presence, (10) Save him who hath done wrong and afterward hath changed evil for good. And lo! I am Forgiving, Merciful. (11) Put your hand into your pocket. It will come out sheer white but unharmed. This is one of the nine miracles which shall be showing to the Pharaoh and his people; they are truly wicked men." (12) But when there came to them Our visible signs, they said, "This is obvious magic." (13) and they denied them, though their souls acknowledged them, wrongfully and out of pride. Behold, how was the end of the workers of corruption! (14)
