The Ant (Al-Naml)
93 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Poets (Alshu'araa') before Stories (Al-Qasas)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Ta-Seen*; these are verses of the Qur’an and the clear Book. (Alphabets of the Arabic language Allah, and to whomever he reveals, know their precise meanings.) (1) They are glad news and guidance for the believers (2) who are constant in prayer and spend in charity: for it is they, they who in their innermost are certain of the life to come! (3) As for those who do not believe in the Everlasting Life, We have decorated for them their works, and they wander blindly. (4) They will suffer the worst kind of torment and will be lost in the life to come. (5) And most surely you are made to receive the Quran from the Wise, the Knowing Allah. (6) Lo! [While lost in the desert,] Moses said to his family: "Behold, I perceive a fire [far away]; I may bring you from there some tiding [as to which way we are to pursue,] or bring you [at least] a burning brand so that you might warm yourselves." (7) But when he came to the (fire), a voice was heard: "Blessed are those in the fire and those around: and glory to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. (8) Moses, I am God, the Majestic and All-wise. (9) Throw down your staff." But when he saw it moving like a snake, he turned and fled. "Moses, do not be afraid! The messengers need have no fear in My presence; (10) Except those who do some wrong but afterwards do good to make up for the wrong. And I am forgiving and merciful. (11) And put thy hand into thy bosom, it shall come forth white, without hurt: amongst nine signs unto Fir'awn and his people. Verily they have been a people transgressing. (12) Then when Our enlightening signs came to them, they said, “This is clear magic.” (13) And they denied them whereas in their hearts they were certain of them due to injustice and pride; therefore see what sort of fate befell the mischievous!
