The Ant (Al-Naml)
93 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Poets (Alshu'araa') before Stories (Al-Qasas)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Ta Sin. These are verses from the Quran, a book that makes things clear; (1) a guidance and glad tidings to believers, (2) who are constant in prayer and spend in charity: for it is they, they who in their innermost are certain of the life to come! (3) Those who do not believe in the Hereafter We have made their deeds seem good to them, so they are astray. (4) Those are they for whom is the worst of punishment, and in the Hereafter they will be the greatest losers. (5) And indeed you (O dear Prophet Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him), are taught the Qur’an from the Wise, the All Knowing. (6) (Remember) when Musa (Moses) said to his household: "Verily! I have seen a fire, I will bring you from there some information, or I will bring you a burning brand, that you may warm yourselves." (7) When he came up to it, a voice called out, "Blessed be whoever is near this fire, and whoever is around it! Glory be to God, Lord of the Universe! (8) O Moses, verily this is Me, Allah, the All-Mighty, the All-Wise! (9) Cast down thy staff.' And when he saw it quivering like a serpent he turned about, retreating, and turned not back. 'Moses, fear not; surely the Envoys do not fear in My presence, (10) Save him who hath done wrong and afterward hath changed evil for good. And lo! I am Forgiving, Merciful. (11) Put your hand in the bosom of your shirt; it will come out white without any blemish. This will be one of nine tokens for the Pharaoh and his people, who are a wicked lot indeed." (12) But when Our signs came to them visibly, they said: 'This is plain sorcery.' (13) And they belied them (those Ayat) wrongfully and arrogantly, though their ownselves were convinced thereof [i.e. those (Ayat) are from Allah, and Musa (Moses) is the Messenger of Allah in truth, but they disliked to obey Musa (Moses), and hated to believe in his Message of Monotheism]. So see what was the end of the Mufsidun (disbelievers, disobedient to Allah, evil-doers, liars.). (14)
