The dwellers of Al-Aiyka [near Madyan (Midian)] belied the Messengers. (176) When Shu'ayb said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? (177) Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: (178) Have fear of God and obey me. (179) And I ask of you no hire therefor; and my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. (180) ۞ “Measure in full, and do not be of those who reduce.” (181) and weigh with the straight scale, (182) And do not withhold from people what belongs to them, and do not corrupt the land; (183) And keep your duty unto Him Who created you and the generations of the men of old. (184) They said, “You are under a magic spell.” (185) You are only a human being like ourselves. Indeed we think you are a liar. (186) Then make fragments of the heaven fall upon us, if thou art of the truthful. (187) He said: My Lord is Best Aware of what ye do. (188) But they belied him, then the punishment of the Day of Shadow (raining fire) seized them. Truly, it was the punishment of a dreadful day. (189) Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. (190) And indeed your Lord only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. (191)
