The 'Aad belied the sent ones. (123) When their brother Hud said unto them: fear ye not? (124) Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; (125) "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. (126) And I ask of you no hire therefor: my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. (127) "Do you build useless monuments on every mountain (128) And do you take to yourselves underground reservoirs, in order to live for ever! (129) When you lay hands upon anyone, you do so as tyrants. (130) Rather keep your duty to Allah, and obey me. (131) fear Him who has aided you with all that you know -- (132) "He has aided you with cattle and children. (133) "And gardens and springs. (134) Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a dreadful Day' (135) They said: "It is the same to us if you warn us or do not warn. (136) this is nothing but the habit of the ancients, (137) "And we are not going to be punished." (138) So they cried him lies; then We destroyed them. Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. (139) Surely your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. (140)
