Tell them the story of Abraham, (69) [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" (70) They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." (71) He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? (72) “Or do they benefit you or harm you?” (73) They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." (74) He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: (75) “You and your forefathers preceding you.” (76) “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” (77) "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; (78) and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, (79) "And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me; (80) And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life (81) Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." (82) "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, (83) And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; (84) and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, (85) and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. (86) “And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised.” (87) The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail (88) Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. (89) And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. (90) and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, (91) And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship (92) Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? (93) So they and all the astray were flung into hell. (94) And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. (95) And they, while contending therein, shall say: (96) “By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error.” (97) when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. (98) And none but the guilty led us astray; (99) We have no intercessors now, (100) nor any loving friend. (101) Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' (102) Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. (103) And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. (104)
