And when thy Lord called Moses, saying: Go unto the wrongdoing folk, (10) the people of Pharaoh; will they not be godfearing?' (11) He said: "My Lord! Verily, I fear that they will belie me, (12) and my breast will be straitened, and my tongue will not be loosed; so send to Aaron. (13) Moreover, they keep a grave charge [pending] against me, and I fear that they will slay me." (14) He said: by no means. So go ye twain with Our signs; verily We shall be with you listening. (15) Go to Pharaoh, both of you, and say, 'We are messengers from the Lord of the Worlds: (16) (Saying): Let the Children of Israel go with us. (17) [But when Moses had delivered his message, Pharaoh] said: "Did we not bring thee up among us when thou wert a child? And didst thou not spend among us years of thy [later] life? (18) Yet you were ungrateful and have done the deed you did' (19) He said: I did it then, when I was of those who are astray. (20) Then I fled from you when I feared you, and my Lord bestowed on me wisdom and made me one of the sent ones. (21) And this is the favor with which you oblige me: You have made the Israelites your slaves. (22) Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "And what is the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)?" (23) Moses said, "Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if only you would be convinced." (24) (The Pharaoh) said to those around him: "Do you hear?" (25) Moses went on, "He is your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers." (26) Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "Verily, your Messenger who has been sent to you is a madman!" (27) (Moses) said: "The Lord of the East and the Lord of the West and all that lies between them, if you have sense." (28) Said he: If you will take a god besides me, I will most certainly make you one of the imprisoned. (29) (Moses) said: "Even if I showed you something clear (and) convincing?" (30) Said he, 'Bring it then, if thou art of the truthful.' (31) So Moses threw down his staff and suddenly it appeared as a serpent, plainly visible. (32) And he drew forth his hand, and lo! it was white unto the beholders. (33)
