۞ And those who look not for a meeting with Us say: Why are angels not sent down unto us and (Why) do we not see our Lord! Assuredly they think too highly of themselves and are scornful with great pride. (21) On the Day when they behold the angels, there will be no glad tidings for the sinners. They will say: 'A refuge which is forbidden' (22) We shall advance upon what work they have done, and make it a scattered dust. (23) [whereas] on that same Day those who are destined for paradise will be graced with the best of abodes and the fairest place of repose. (24) The day the heavens splits asunder with a dazzling white cloud gathering and the angels descend in a continuous stream, (25) the true Kingdom on that Day shall belong to the Merciful a harsh day for the unbelievers. (26) On the day when the wrong-doer gnaweth his hands, he will say: Ah, would that I had chosen a way together with the messenger (of Allah)! (27) Oh, would that I had never chosen such a one for my companion -- (28) Certainly he led me astray from the reminder after it had come to me; and the Shaitan fails to aid man. (29) And the Messenger has said, "O my Lord, indeed my people have taken this Qur'an as [a thing] abandoned." (30) And even so We appointed unto every prophet an enemy from among the culprits. And thine Lord sufficeth as Guide and Helper. (31) And the disbelievers say, “Why was the Qur’an not sent down to him all at once?” This is how We sent it in stages, in order to strengthen your heart with it and We read it slowly, in stages. (32) They bring not to thee any similitude but that We bring thee the truth, and better in exposition. (33) (As for) those who shall be gathered upon their faces to hell, they are in a worse plight and straying farther away from the path. (34)
