۞ And those who look not for a meeting with Us say: Why are angels not sent down unto us and (Why) do we not see our Lord! Assuredly they think too highly of themselves and are scornful with great pride. (21) On the day when they behold the angels, on that day there will be no good tidings for the guilty; and they will cry: A forbidding ban! (22) We shall call their deeds into Our presence and scatter them into the air as dust (turn them devoid of all virtue). (23) Those who have earned the Garden on that day will be better in their home and happier in their place of noonday rest; (24) On a Day when the sky will split open with its clouds and the angels are sent down rank upon rank, (25) The dominion on that Day shall be the true dominion of the Compassionate, and it shall be a day upon the infidels hard. (26) And the day when the unjust one shall bite his hands saying: O! would that I had taken a way with the Apostle (27) O woe is me! would that I had not taken such a one for a friend! (28) He indeed led me astray from the Remembrance, after it had come to me; Satan is ever a forsaker of men.' (29) And the Apostle will say: my Lord! verily my people took this Qur'an as a thing to be shunned. (30) And thus have We made for every prophet an enemy from among the criminals. But sufficient is your Lord as a guide and a helper. (31) And the disbelievers say, “Why was the Qur’an not sent down to him all at once?” This is how We sent it in stages, in order to strengthen your heart with it and We read it slowly, in stages. (32) And they do not come to you with an argument except that We bring you the truth and the best explanation. (33) Those who will be dragged headlong into Hell shall have an evil place to dwell in, for they have strayed far from the right path. (34)
