But the leaders of his people who denied the truth and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, because We had granted them ease and plenty in their worldly life, said, "This is only a human being like yourselves, he eats what you eat, and drinks what you drink, (33) And if you obey a mortal like yourselves, then most surely you will be losers: (34) Does he promise you that after you die and become dust and bones you will be brought back to life again? (35) ۞ Far-fetched, utterly far-fetched is what you are being promised. (36) There is nought but our life of the world; we die and we live, and we are not going to be raised up. (37) He is nothing but a man who attributes his own lying inventions to God, and we are not going to believe him!" (38) (The apostle prayed): "O Lord, deliver me, for they accuse me of lies." (39) He said: In a little while they surely will become repentant. (40) Then a mighty blast quite justly overtook them, and We reduced them to a rubble. So away with the wrong-doing folk! (41) Then after them We brought forth other generations. (42) Every nation has an appointed life span. (43) Then We sent Our Messengers in succession. Yet whenever its Messenger came to a nation they belied him, so We made them follow others, and We made them but as tales, so begone the nation who did not believe! (44) Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our miracles and clear authority (45) Unto Pharaoh and his chiefs, but they scorned (them) and they were despotic folk. (46) They said, "Should we believe two men like ourselves while their people are for us in servitude?" (47) So they denied them both [Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron)] and became of those who were destroyed. (48) And We gave Moses the Book that people might be guided by it. (49) And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign, and gave them shelter on an elevated ground, sequestered, watered by a spring. (50)
