The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
118 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa') before Prostration (Al-Sajdah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Successful indeed are the believers. (1) Those who offer their Salat (prayers) with all solemnity and full submissiveness. (2) Who shun all frivolities, (3) who give charity, (4) and guard their private parts (5) except with their spouses and slave-girls. The practice of carnal relations is lawful with them. (6) But those whose desires exceed those limits are transgressors;- (7) And those who are keepers of their trusts and their covenant, (8) And those who of their prayers are observant. (9) these are the heirs of Paradise (10) who will inherit Paradise; they shall live there for ever. (11) And assuredly We created man of an extract of clay. (12) and then We cause him to remain as a drop of sperm in [the wombs] firm keeping, (13) then We developed that drop into a clinging form, and We developed that form into a lump of flesh, and We developed that lump into bones, and clothed the bones with flesh. Then We brought him into being as a new creation, glory be to God, the best of creators, (14) Then after that you shall surely die, (15) Then you will be raised up again on the Resurrection Day. (16) And indeed We have created above you seven heavens (one over the other), and We are never unaware of the creation. (17) And We send down water from the skies in accordance with a measure [set by Us,] and then We cause it to lodge in the earth: but, behold, We are most certainly able to withdraw this [blessing]! (18) Then We produce for you therewith gardens of date-palms and grapes, wherein is much fruit for you and whereof ye eat; (19) And also a tree that springeth forth from mount Sinai, that groweth oil and is a sauce for the eaters. (20) And lo! in the cattle there is verily a lesson for you. We give you to drink of that which is in their bellies, and many uses have ye in them, and of them do ye eat; (21) And on them and on the ship ye are carried. (22)
