The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
118 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa') before Prostration (Al-Sajdah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The believers have indeed attained true success: (1) those who are humble in their prayer; (2) And who shun vain conversation, (3) And who are payers of the poor-due; (4) and who are mindful of their chastity, (5) [not giving way to their desires] with any but their spouses - that is, those whom they rightfully possess [through wedlock]: for then, behold, they are free of all blame, (6) So whoever desires more than these two they are crossing the limits. (7) And those who keep proper regard for their trusts and their pledges. (8) And those who strictly guard their (five compulsory congregational) Salawat (prayers) (at their fixed stated hours). (9) These are the real gainers, (10) Who will inherit Paradise, and live in it for ever. (11) We created man of an extraction of clay, (12) then We made him, a drop, in a secure receptacle (the womb). (13) The living germ, then, was turned into a shapeless lump of flesh from which bones were formed. The bones, then, were covered with flesh. At this stage, We caused it to become another creature. All blessings belong to God, the best Creator. (14) Then after that you shall surely die, (15) Then you will be raised up again on the Resurrection Day. (16) And We have made, above you, seven tracts; and We are never unmindful of (our) Creation. (17) And We have sent down rain from the sky in a measured amount and settled it in the earth. And indeed, We are Able to take it away. (18) Then through water We caused gardens of date-palms and vines to grow for you wherein you have an abundance of delicious fruits and from them you derive your livelihood. (19) The tree that grows on Mount Sinai yields oil and seasoning for those who eat. (20) There are lessons for you in the cattle from whose bellies We give you milk to drink, and there are other advantages that you derive from them, and some of them you eat; (21) And on them and on the ship ye are carried. (22)
