The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
118 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa') before Prostration (Al-Sajdah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Prosperous are the believers (1) who in their prayers are humble (2) those who turn away from all that is frivolous; (3) And those who pay the Zakat. (4) And they who guard their private parts (5) [not giving way to their desires] with any but their spouses - that is, those whom they rightfully possess [through wedlock]: for then, behold, they are free of all blame, (6) As for those who seek beyond that, they are transgressors" (7) And who are shepherds of their pledge and their covenant, (8) And they who carefully maintain their prayers - (9) Those are the inheritors (10) Who will inherit Paradise, and live in it for ever. (11) And indeed We created man (Adam) out of an extract of clay (water and earth). (12) then We made him, a drop, in a secure receptacle (the womb). (13) and then We create out of the drop of sperm a germ-cell, and then We create out of the germ-cell an embryonic lump, and then We create within the embryonic lump bones, and then We clothe the bones with flesh - and then We bring [all] this into being as a new creation: hallowed, therefore, is God, the best of artisans! (14) Then after that, certainly all of you are to die. (15) Again, on the Day of Judgment, will ye be raised up. (16) And We have made, above you, seven tracts; and We are never unmindful of (our) Creation. (17) And We have sent down rain from the sky in a measured amount and settled it in the earth. And indeed, We are Able to take it away. (18) Then through water We caused gardens of date-palms and vines to grow for you wherein you have an abundance of delicious fruits and from them you derive your livelihood. (19) Also a tree springing out of Mount Sinai, which produces oil, and relish for those who use it for food. (20) And surely in the cattle there is a lesson for you; We give you to drink of what is in their bellies, and many uses there are in them for you, and of them you eat; (21) And upon them and on ships you are carried. (22)
