The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
118 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa') before Prostration (Al-Sajdah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Successful indeed are the believers (1) Who are humble in their prayers, (2) Who shun all frivolities, (3) and who are intent on inner purity; (4) and restrain their carnal desires (5) Except with those joined to them in the marriage bond, or (the captives) whom their right hands possess,- for (in their case) they are free from blame, (6) As for those who seek beyond that, they are transgressors" (7) And they who are to their trusts and their promises attentive (8) and those who observe their prayers. (9) It is they, they who shall be the inheritors (10) Who shall inherit the Firdaus (Paradise). They shall dwell therein forever. (11) And assuredly We created man of an extract of clay. (12) which was then turned into a living germ and placed in safe depository. (13) Thereafter We created the sperm a clot; then We created the clot a lump of flesh; then We created the lump of flesh bones; then We clothed the bones with flesh: thereafter We brought him forth as another creature. Blest then be Allah, the Best of creators! (14) Then after that you will most surely die. (15) Again, on the Day of Judgment, will ye be raised up. (16) And We have created above you seven layered heavens, and never have We been of [Our] creation unaware. (17) And We send down water from the sky according to (due) measure, and We cause it to soak in the soil; and We certainly are able to drain it off (with ease). (18) So with it We produced gardens of date-palms and grapes for you, in which is abundant fruit for you and you eat therefrom. (19) And We also produced the tree which springs forth from Mount Sinai, containing oil and sauce for those that eat. (20) And lo! in the cattle there is verily a lesson for you. We give you to drink of that which is in their bellies, and many uses have ye in them, and of them do ye eat; (21) And on them, as well as in ships, ye ride. (22)
