Pilgrimage (Al-Hajj)
78 verses, revealed in Medina after Light (Al-Noor) before The Hypocrites (Al-Munaafeqoon)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ People, have fear of your Lord; the quake (of the physical realm) at the Hour of Doom will be terribly violent. (1) On the Day when you witness it, the suckling woman shall utterly neglect the infant she suckles, and every pregnant woman shall cast her burden, and you will see people as though they are drunk, when they are not drunk; but dreadful shall be Allah's chastisement. (2) And of the people is he who disputes about Allah without knowledge and follows every rebellious devil. (3) Who, it is inscribed, will beguile whoever follows him, and lead him to the torment of Hell. (4) O mankind! If you are in doubt about the Resurrection, then verily! We have created you (i.e. Adam) from dust, then from a Nutfah (mixed drops of male and female sexual discharge i.e. offspring of Adam), then from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood) then from a little lump of flesh, some formed and some unformed (miscarriage), that We may make (it) clear to you (i.e. to show you Our Power and Ability to do what We will). And We cause whom We will to remain in the wombs for an appointed term, then We bring you out as infants, then (give you growth) that you may reach your age of full strength. And among you there is he who dies (young), and among you there is he who is brought back to the miserable old age, so that he knows nothing after having known. And you see the earth barren, but when We send down water (rain) on it, it is stirred (to life), it swells and puts forth every lovely kind (of growth). (5) This is because God is the Supreme Truth who gives life to the dead and who has power over all things. (6) And because the Hour is coming - there is no doubt thereof - and because Allah will raise up those who are in the graves. (7) And of the people is he who disputes about Allah without knowledge or guidance or an enlightening book [from Him], (8) Turning their backs that they may lead away from the path of God. For such there is disgrace in the world, and on the Day of Judgement We shall make them taste the torment of burning. (9) 'That is for what thy hands have forwarded and for that God is never unjust unto His servants.' (10)
