Pilgrimage (Al-Hajj)
78 verses, revealed in Medina after Light (Al-Noor) before The Hypocrites (Al-Munaafeqoon)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ O people, have fear of your Lord. The earthquake of the Hour shall be a great thing. (1) On the Day when you witness it, the suckling woman shall utterly neglect the infant she suckles, and every pregnant woman shall cast her burden, and you will see people as though they are drunk, when they are not drunk; but dreadful shall be Allah's chastisement. (2) And yet, among men there is many a one who argues about God without having any knowledge [of Him,] and follows every rebellious satanic force (3) against whom it is written down that whosoever takes him for a guide, he guides astray, and leads him to the punishment of the Blaze. (4) O People, if you should be in doubt about the Resurrection, then [consider that] indeed, We created you from dust, then from a sperm-drop, then from a clinging clot, and then from a lump of flesh, formed and unformed - that We may show you. And We settle in the wombs whom We will for a specified term, then We bring you out as a child, and then [We develop you] that you may reach your [time of] maturity. And among you is he who is taken in [early] death, and among you is he who is returned to the most decrepit [old] age so that he knows, after [once having] knowledge, nothing. And you see the earth barren, but when We send down upon it rain, it quivers and swells and grows [something] of every beautiful kind. (5) That is because Allah, He is the Truth, and it is He Who gives life to the dead, and it is He Who is Able to do all things. (6) And because the Hour will come, there is no doubt thereof; and because Allah will raise those who are in the graves. (7) Yet there are some who contend about God without any knowledge or guidance or enlightening Book, (8) Bending his neck, that he may lead astray from the way of Allah; his shall be humiliation in the world, and We shall make him taste on the Day of Judgment the torment of burning. (9) [and he shall be told:] "This is an outcome of what thine own hands have wrought - for, never does God do the least wrong to His creatures!" (10)
