Juz 17
Pilgrimage (Al-Hajj)
78 verses, revealed in Medina after Light (Al-Noor) before The Hypocrites (Al-Munaafeqoon)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ O people! guard against (the punishment from) your Lord; surely the violence of the hour is a grievous thing. (1) On the Day when you behold it, every woman that feeds a child at her breast will utterly forget her nursling, and every woman heavy with child will bring forth her burden [before her time]; and it will seem to thee that all mankind is drunk, although they will not be drunk - but vehement will be [their dread of] God's chastisement. (2) Some people argue about God without knowledge and follow every rebellious devil. (3) It has been decided that satan will mislead and submit anyone who establishes friendship with him to the torment of the burning fire. (4) O People, if you should be in doubt about the Resurrection, then [consider that] indeed, We created you from dust, then from a sperm-drop, then from a clinging clot, and then from a lump of flesh, formed and unformed - that We may show you. And We settle in the wombs whom We will for a specified term, then We bring you out as a child, and then [We develop you] that you may reach your [time of] maturity. And among you is he who is taken in [early] death, and among you is he who is returned to the most decrepit [old] age so that he knows, after [once having] knowledge, nothing. And you see the earth barren, but when We send down upon it rain, it quivers and swells and grows [something] of every beautiful kind. (5) That is because Allah, He is the Truth and because He quickeneth the dead, and because He is Able to do all things; (6) And because the Hour is coming - there is no doubt thereof - and because Allah will raise up those who are in the graves. (7) And of the people is he who disputes about Allah without knowledge or guidance or an enlightening book [from Him], (8) They turn away arrogantly, leading people astray from God's path. Such men shall incur disgrace in this life and taste the punishment of the Fire on the Day of Judgement. (9) (They will be told), "This is the result of what your hands have wrought. God is certainly not unjust to His servants." (10)
