Pilgrimage (Al-Hajj)
78 verses, revealed in Medina after Light (Al-Noor) before The Hypocrites (Al-Munaafeqoon)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ O mankind! Fear your Lord. Lo! the earthquake of the Hour (of Doom) is a tremendous thing. (1) On the day when you shall see it, every woman giving suck shall quit in confusion what she suckled, and every pregnant woman shall lay down her burden, and you shall see men intoxicated, and they shall not be intoxicated but the chastisement of Allah will be severe. (2) Some people argue about God without knowledge and follow every rebellious devil. (3) although it is decreed about him that he shall lead into error whosoever takes him for a friend, and will direct him to the torment of the Fire. (4) O mankind! If you are in doubt about the Resurrection, then verily! We have created you (i.e. Adam) from dust, then from a Nutfah (mixed drops of male and female sexual discharge i.e. offspring of Adam), then from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood) then from a little lump of flesh, some formed and some unformed (miscarriage), that We may make (it) clear to you (i.e. to show you Our Power and Ability to do what We will). And We cause whom We will to remain in the wombs for an appointed term, then We bring you out as infants, then (give you growth) that you may reach your age of full strength. And among you there is he who dies (young), and among you there is he who is brought back to the miserable old age, so that he knows nothing after having known. And you see the earth barren, but when We send down water (rain) on it, it is stirred (to life), it swells and puts forth every lovely kind (of growth). (5) That is so for God is the undeniable Reality. It is He who brings the dead to life, for He has power over everything. (6) And the Hour is sure to come there is no doubt. And Allah will raise up those in the graves. (7) Yet there are some who contend about God without any knowledge or guidance or enlightening Book, (8) Turning away in pride to beguile (men) from the way of Allah. For him in this world is ignominy, and on the Day of Resurrection We make him taste the doom of burning. (9) 'That is for what thy hands have forwarded and for that God is never unjust unto His servants.' (10)
