۞ Before this We gave Abraham his virtue, for We knew him. (51) He said to his father and to his nation: 'What, are these the statues to which you cling' (52) They said:"We found our fathers worshipping them." (53) He said: Verily ye and your fathers were in plain error. (54) They said, "Have you brought us the Truth, or are you one of those who jest?" (55) He said: "Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth which He created and to that I bear witness before you. (56) “And, by oath of Allah, I shall seek to harm your idols after you have gone away and turned your backs.” (57) So he smashed them up to pieces with the exception of the biggest, so that they may turn to it. (58) They said: "Who has done this to our aliha (gods)? He must indeed be one of the wrong-doers." (59) They said: We heard a youth speak of them, who is called Ibrahim. (60) They said: "Then bring him before the eyes of the people, that they may testify." (61) They asked, "Abraham, did you do this to our idols?" (62) 'No' he replied. 'It was their great one amongst them that did it. Ask them, if they are able to speak' (63) So they returned one to another saying, 'Surely, it is you who are the harmdoers' (64) Then their minds were turned upside down, and they said: "You know well that they do not speak." (65) He said, "Then do you worship instead of Allah that which does not benefit you at all or harm you? (66) Shame on you and on whatever you worship instead of God. Can you not understand?" (67) They said, 'Burn him, and help your gods, if you would do aught.' (68) "Turn cold, O fire," We said, "and give safety to Abraham." (69) And they intended for him harm, but We made them the greatest losers. (70) And We saved him and Lot [and brought them] to a land which We had blessed for all people, (71) And We bestowed upon him Isaac and [Isaac's son] Jacob as an additional gift and caused all of them to be righteous men, (72) And We made them chiefs who guide by Our command, and We inspired in them the doing of good deeds and the right establishment of worship and the giving of alms, and they were worshippers of Us (alone). (73) And (remember) Lout (Lot), We gave him Hukman (right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) and (religious) knowledge, and We saved him from the town (folk) who practised Al-Khaba'ith (evil, wicked and filthy deeds, etc.). Verily, they were a people given to evil, and were Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient, to Allah). (74) Thus We admitted him to Our grace. He is surely one of the righteous. (75)
