How many unjust towns did We destroy and replace them with other nations? (11) And when its inhabitants perceived Our punishment, at once they fled from it. (12) The angels said to them, “Do not flee and return to the comforts that were given to you and to your homes, perhaps you will be questioned.” (13) They said, "Woe to us! We were indeed wrongdoers," (14) So they ceased not to cry, until We made them stubble, silent and still. (15) And We did not create the heaven and the earth and what is between them for sport. (16) Had We intended that We should choose a sport, surely We would choose it from before Us - if We were ever going to do that. (17) But in fact We hurl the truth upon falsehood, so it scatters its brains thereupon it vanishes; and for you is the ruin due to the matters you fabricate. (18) And His is whosoever is in the heavens and the earth; and those nigh unto Him are not too stiff-necked for His worship nor are they weary. (19) They glorify Him night and day, without flagging. (20) Or have they chosen gods from the earth who raise the dead? (21) If there had been in them any gods except Allah, they would both have certainly been in a state of disorder; therefore glory be to Allah, the Lord of the dominion, above what they attribute (to Him). (22) None shall question Him about what He does, but they shall be questioned. (23) Have they taken gods other than Him? Say, (O Muhammad): "Bring forth your proof! Here is the Book with admonition for those of my time and there are also scriptures with admonition for people before me." But most people do not know the Truth, and have, therefore, turned away from it. (24) To all the Messengers that were sent before you We revealed that I am the only God to be worshipped. (25) They say 'The Merciful has taken a son' Exaltations to Him! No, they are only His honored worshipers, (26) They do not precede Him in speech and (only) according to His commandment do they act. (27) He knows all that lies open before them and all that is hidden from them: hence, they cannot intercede for any but those whom He has [already] graced with His goodly acceptance, since they themselves stand in reverent awe of Him. (28) ۞ And whosoever of them should say: verily I am a god beside Him, such a one We shall requite with Hell; thus We requite the wrong-doers. (29)
