How many communities of evil-doers We have destroyed, raising up other people after them. (11) And [every time,] as soon as they began to feel Our punishing might, lo! they tried to flee from it (12) [Some angels said], "Do not flee but return to where you were given luxury and to your homes - perhaps you will be questioned." (13) And they could only cry: "Oh, woe unto us! Verily, we were wrongdoers!" (14) and this they kept repeating until We caused them to become like a field mowed down, and reduced to ashes. (15) We did not create in sport the heavens and the earth and all that lies between the two. (16) If We had pleased to make a plaything We could have made it Ourself, if We had cared to do so. (17) In fact We strike the truth against the false, which shatters it, and it disappears. Woe to you for what you attribute (to Him)! (18) To Him belongs whosoever dwells in the heavens and on earth. Those (angels) that are with Him neither disdain to serve Him out of pride, nor do they weary of it. (19) They glorify (Him) by night and day; they are never languid. (20) Or have they taken gods from the earth who can raise the dead? (21) If there were therein gods beside Allah, then verily both (the heavens and the earth) had been disordered. Glorified be Allah, the Lord of the Throne, from all that they ascribe (unto Him). (22) He is not to be questioned about what He does, but they shall be questioned. (23) Or have they taken for worship (other) gods besides him? Say, "Bring your convincing proof: this is the Message of those with me and the Message of those before me." But most of them know not the Truth, and so turn away. (24) To all the Messengers that were sent before you We revealed that I am the only God to be worshipped. (25) And they say, "The Most Merciful has taken a son." Exalted is He! Rather, they are [but] honored servants. (26) They did not precede Him in their speech, and acted on His command. (27) He knows whatever is before them and whatsoever is remote from them and they do not intercede except for him, intercession on whose behalf pleases Him, and they stand constantly in awe of Him. (28) ۞ And whoever of them should say, "Indeed, I am a god besides Him"- that one We would recompense with Hell. Thus do We recompense the wrongdoers. (29)
