The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
112 verses, revealed in Mecca after Abraham (Ibrahim) before The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Their reckoning draweth nigh for mankind, while they turn away in heedlessness. (1) Whenever a new revelation comes to them from their Lord, they listen to it in a playful manner, (2) their hearts being set on other concerns. The wrong-doers whisper to one another: "This person is no more than a mortal like yourselves. Will you, then, be enchanted by sorcery while you see?" (3) He said: "My Lord knows well all that is spoken in the heavens and the earth. He is All-Hearing, All- Knowing." (4) Nay, say they, (these are but) muddled dreams; nay, he hath but invented it; nay, he is but a poet. Let him bring us a portent even as those of old (who were Allah's messengers) were sent (with portents). (5) Not one of the communities that We destroyed in bygone times would ever believe [their prophets]: will these, then, [be more willing to] believe? (6) The messengers that We had sent before you were only men to whom We had given revelation. Ask the People of the Book if you do not know. (7) We gave them not bodies that would not eat food, nor were they immortals. (8) Then We were true to the promise, We saved them together with those whom We willed, and destroyed the transgressors. (9) We have indeed sent down towards you a Book, in which is your repute; so do you not have sense? (10)
