Juz 17
The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
112 verses, revealed in Mecca after Abraham (Ibrahim) before The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The people’s reckoning is near, whereas they are in neglect, turned away! (1) There comes not to them a new reminder from their Lord but they hear it while they sport, (2) and their hearts are preoccupied with trivial matters. The unjust ones whisper to each other and say, "Is he (Muhammad) more than a mere mortal like you? How can you follow that which you know is only a magic?" (3) The Prophet said: my Lord knoweth the word in the heavens and the earth, and He is the Hearer, the Knower. (4) Aye! they say: a medley of dreams; aye! he hath fabricated it; aye! he is a poet; so let him bring us a sign even as the ancients were sent with. (5) Not a township believed of those which We destroyed before them (though We sent them portents): would they then believe? (6) Before thee, also, the messengers We sent were but men, to whom We granted inspiration: If ye realise this not, ask of those who possess the Message. (7) We did not make their bodies immune to hunger, nor were they immortal. (8) Then We were true to the promise, We saved them together with those whom We willed, and destroyed the transgressors. (9) We have sent a Book, (the Quran), which is an honor for you. Will you then not understand? (10)
